TOUR OVERVIEW

The Southern Horizons Safari reveals a Namibia that few travellers experience – where immense landscapes stretch endlessly and silence itself feels sacred.

Starting in Windhoek, this 14-day circuit travels south through the red sands of the Kalahari and the otherworldly Fish River Canyon – the world’s second largest – before continuing to the coastal charm of Lüderitz, the timeless dunes of Sossusvlei, and the Atlantic adventure hub of Swakopmund.

From there, the journey arcs north to Damaraland’s desert elephants, Etosha’s world-class wildlife, and finally to Okonjima, where leopards and conservation meet on a private reserve. It is Namibia in full – remote, raw, and spectacularly diverse.

ITINERARY HIGHLIGHTS

Kalahari Desert

A sweeping expanse of red dunes and golden grasslands dotted with acacia trees, the Kalahari is both tranquil and teeming with life. You spend a night here to soak in desert stillness and endless horizons – the perfect introduction to Namibia’s rhythms.

Fish River Canyon

The world’s second-largest canyon and one of Africa’s grandest geological wonders. Here, the vast silence feels profound – a place where you gaze across millennia-old rock formations with barely another traveller in sight.

Lüderitz & Kolmanskop

A windswept coastal gem that blends colonial charm, desert drama, and incredible seafood. You wander through the famous ghost town of Kolmanskop, its sand-filled houses frozen in time, then dine on oysters and local rock lobster while gazing over the Atlantic. It is Namibia with a maritime twist.

Sossusvlei

The legendary red dunes of the Namib Desert – some of the tallest in the world – rise above the stark white clay pans of Deadvlei. You *can if you want* climb Big Daddy, photograph centuries-old camelthorn trees, and watch dawn light set the desert aflame.

Swakopmund

Namibia’s coastal playground and activity capital. You cruise among dolphins and seals, venture into the dunes on a 4×4 or quad bike, or join an expert-led “Living Desert” walk to discover the desert’s small but remarkable inhabitants. You round off your day with fresh seafood and ocean sunsets.

Twyfelfontein (Damaraland)

You track desert-adapted elephants across ancient riverbeds and explore Twyfelfontein’s UNESCO-listed rock engravings, among Africa’s oldest. This rugged region captures Namibia’s untamed spirit – raw, remote, and deeply beautiful.

Etosha National Park

A vast salt pan surrounded by savanna and mopane woodlands, Etosha stands as one of Africa’s greatest wildlife sanctuaries. You spot elephants, lions, rhinos, giraffes, and hundreds of bird species, often in serene solitude far from the crowded parks of East Africa.

Okonjima Nature Reserve

Home of the AfriCat Foundation, Okonjima offers some of Namibia’s most rewarding big cat encounters. You track free-roaming leopards and learn about ongoing conservation efforts. It is the perfect finale – where your safari story ends in meaning and majesty.
